    A little History ....

The club was formed in January 1974 at a meeting at the Red Lion public house. Attended by Gerald Salter, Nick Gibson, Barry Judd, David Thomas & Bob Greenslade. An inaugural meeting was held in February 1974 at the home of Gerald Salter. Lunchtime meetings were then held at the Rose & Crown. In 1977 Bob Greenslade suggested a trade fair for the town. This was to be called Beepex. The first year was open to members only and opened by Major General Gill, CB.OBE.MC. Colonel 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards. The following years it was then open to all business's in the area and was opened by various celebrities such as Johnny Briggs, Don Estelle, Ruth Madoc and Emlyn Hughes. Beepex was organised by John Smith (Mr. Beepex) & sub-committee which ran for 20 years and at its peak a motor show was also held.
