2005/2006 has been Kaleidoscope’s most successful season
to date.
The girls’ first competitive outing of the season was to
Sligo International Choral Festival last November, where they had a double
triumph.
The junior and senior sections combined to put on a winning
performance in the youth choirs class.

The senior girls then gave an excellent account of
themselves in the competition for female voice choirs from all over Ireland,
scooping another first place for Kaleidoscope.
The winter term was rounded off with a very enjoyable
recital of Christmas music and poetry in Templepatrick Old Presbyterian Church,
which raised much-needed funds for the Northern Ireland Hospice.
During the spring term, the girls took part in a concert in
Ballyclare’s Allen Hall with Loughside Chamber Choir and a group of
instrumentalists from the New Irish Orchestra.
This was followed by an outing to Bangor International
Choral Festival in County Down – one of the girls’ favourite competitions.
Kaleidoscope took first place in the youth choirs section
and the senior girls also defeated choirs from England, Wales and the Republic
of Ireland to win the ladies’ choirs class.
There was another surprise in store for the choir during the gala night
presentations, when Kaleidoscope was awarded the Isobel Reid Rosebowl for the
most outstanding performance of the afternoon session. This was a great
achievement, particularly as the girls had been judged against the winners of
six adult categories
