Musical Director - Mary Cobbold MA FRCO (Chm) ARMCM

Mary joined us as Musical Director in September 2010.

She studied the organ at St John’s Church, Buxton, under Frederick Parnell before con­tin­uing her stud­ies at the age of 16 with Ronald Frost and Derek Can­trell at the Royal Man­ches­ter College of Music. She then won the Organ Scholar­ship to

Gir­ton College, Cambridge.

Mary has pursued a career as a teacher, most recently as Head of Music at St Bede’s Col­lege Man­ches­ter. She has also been the Director of Music at several churches.  Now retired from school teaching, Mary is a free­lance organist, accompanist, teacher and choral director.

Mary continues to maintain the balance between working hard to achieve high standards and the friendly, sociable atmosphere which we all enjoy.
