Our Aims:

The Cotswold Choral Society, based in the Slaughters, North Cotswolds, was formed some 20+ years ago, with the aim of promoting and developing the enjoyment of music through live performance. We are a friendly Choral Society that emphasises enjoyment in singing, learning and giving.

Membership / New Members:

We have a membership of circa 35 and always welcome new members. There are no auditions and music reading is not essential. All we ask is for a commitment to our aims and a love of singing

Location:

We are based within the village halls of Upper and Lower Slaughter (between Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the Wold), meeting on most Thursday evenings at 7.30pm, during our seasons, for rehearsals. (see ‘Contact Us' for more details )

Our Music:

Primarily, we perform Easter, Remembrance and Christmas concert / recital programmes, complimented usually with light summer concerts.  Some of our recent concerts have included such works as ‘The Messiah’, ‘Olivet to Calvary’, ‘The Crucifixion’ and Elgar’s ‘Spirit of England’, to name but a few. (see ‘Past Works’ for more details).

Musical Calendar:

We take a break over the main summer period, commencing the new musical year each September, with an open evening, (Thursday 04 September for 2008), where we welcome all ‘SATBs’ (sopranos, altos, tenors and basses), who would wish to try out their voices (no auditions) and enjoy singing with friendly people.

DO COME ALONG AND JOIN US! If you cannot make the first evening come along on a following Thursday night, or call us for more details by contacting Diana Fordred, our Secretary, on tel:01608.650486.

Supporting Others:

Although a charity itself, the Society also supports other ‘nominated’ charities and deserving causes for the year. For 2008 we are supporting Kate’s Home Nursing (specialist nursing in the home) and Jessie’s Fund (which helps handicapped children through music). During 2007 we added our support to Northleach Church’s roof restoration fund.
